  Phone Text Scam Alert 11/6/09

PVFCU members and others have been receiving fraudulent automated TEXT MESSAGES designed to steal debit card and credit card numbers.

PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO TEXTS OF THIS NATURE.
PVFCU does not notify you of card problems, etc. by automated phone systems or texts. DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR CARD INFORMATION ONLINE OR BY PHONE!

If you have given out your account information, contact your financial institution immediately. Park View Federal Credit Union members should call 540-434-6444 or toll-free 888-900-6444. CHOOSE OPTION 8 to BLOCK YOUR CARD!

The automated text identifies itself as coming from Park View Federal Credit Union and notifies you that your card has been suspended (or something similar) and tells you to call a toll-free number. This is fraudulent.

IMPORTANT: No PVFCU member information has been accessed ("hacked" into) in this fraud. Our data is protected and there have been no successful unauthorized attempts to penetrate our security system. Texts may be going to members and non-members alike.
