About Park View Federal Credit Union

Neighbors Serving Neighbors

SINCE 1969

Every day since Park View began in 1969, we've been about neighbors serving neighbors. This means building meaningful relationships with members to genuinely understand and support their financial well-being.

As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, Park View’s members are part-owners, sharing in the collective success of the credit union. One member's deposits help fund another member's loan, creating a cycle of shared support that strengthens the entire community.

Park View Federal Credit Union was formed at what is now Eastern Mennonite University in 1969 to provide an organization through which employees would establish a savings program, and these savings would be available for other employees to borrow. Thus, one member's savings became another member's loan. All staff and board members were volunteers. An individual's character and integrity were the basis for evaluating loans.

In 1982 membership expanded to include Mennonite churches in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, Virginia, to enable members to channel funds to assist one another in the areas of mutual aid and financial concern. By 2002, Park View had grown to include numerous partner organizations including Brethren churches. Financial services were added to meet members' needs and expectations, resulting in a one-stop financial resource that provided savings, loans, investments, and insurance.

Today, Park View is a thriving and vibrant member-centered, full-service credit union: it is structured as a not-for-profit cooperative, governed by a volunteer board and managed by professional staff. It is a values-based organization striving to live out its legacy of people helping people, by continuing to be Neighbors Serving Neighbors®.

The current version of our logo was updated in 2015 to provide an up-to-date and refreshing service experience for our members. While the logo's shape echoes the lines of the quilt design in our former logo, the open layout and bright colors breathe new life into the symbol. The modern font's lighter weight and playful angles also suggest energy, warmth and friendliness. The logo reminds us of our roots in the Anabaptist community while representing Park View's unique blend of innovation and personal service.

Board of Directors

One of the most important differences between a credit union and any other financial institution is our member-elected, volunteer Board of Directors. Each director is a member of Park View, elected by members and volunteers to serve a three year-term.

Our current Board leadership is listed below where you can also learn about the diverse background of each director.
